Custom Built Fiber Optic Network - General Motors World Headquarters
In 2020 the world sank into a global pandemic and the City of Detroit was no exception. We were hired directly by the Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation to help them create a Virtual Jazz Festival. Our network techs and engineers worked side by side with the General Motors IS&T team and the Detroit Marriott Technology support staff to create a 17mile loop of fiber optics to connect 3 ballrooms on 3 different floors. Then coupled with a 1 Gigabit fiber internet backbone provided by Rocket Fiber & Comcast. With our help and design services, the Detroit Jazz Festival was the first and only festival in North America to have live music in a safe, virtual, globally live streamed event. The festival took place in the General Motors World Headquarters and the Detroit Marriott Hotel at the Rennesaince Center in Downtown Detroit, Michgian.
In 2021, seeing how the world was still very much in the middle of a pandemic and with other festivals still on hold or canceling by the day, the Detroit Jazz Festival once again decided to move forward with the virtual festival. We were once again tapped on the shoulders to help make this a reality. We are proud to say that we build, designed and implemented the network that carried 40 hours of programming to over 1.5 million streaming viewers.
